Custom Hats With a Low Minimum: How Small Orders Work
How small custom hat orders work: our 5 hat minimum, mixing colors, where the price breaks are, and what to do if you only need one hat.

In this guide
A lot of custom hat shops start at 24, 48 or even 144 hats. That's a problem if you're a small crew, a new business or a team of eight. Our minimum is 5 hats.
How the 5 hat minimum works
- 5 hats per order, per logo. One logo across the whole order.
- Mix colors. Split your 5 or more hats across any colors of the same hat style. For example, 3 black and 2 grey counts as 5.
- Same perks as big orders. Free digitizing, a free mockup, no stitch limit and free shipping to the lower 48.

Small runs get the same care. Every order, big or small, is digitized, mocked up and stitched in-house on the same machines in Burlington, NC.
Where the price breaks are
The price per hat drops at 10, 24, 48 and 96 hats. If you're sitting at 8 or 9 hats, it's often worth going to 10. For example, a Richardson 112 trucker is $29 per hat at 5 to 9 hats and $24 per hat at 10. That means 10 hats ($240) actually cost less than 9 hats ($261).
Tip: If you're at 8 or 9 hats, check the price at 10. It's often the same total or less.

Why not 1 hat?
Every new logo takes the same setup work, whether it goes on 1 hat or 100: digitizing the logo into a stitch file, a mockup, test stitching and machine setup. Spread across 5 or more hats, that work stays affordable. For a single hat, it doesn't.
